It’s nearly that time of year again: open wounds, missing teeth and huge amounts of eye shadow – yes, it’s the season of the undead – Halloween.

Here’s a list of great apps that’ll let your smartphone get involved this year:

Halloween Photo Editor– Available on Blackberry, £1.99.

Instagram-style photo editor for Halloween. Full moon, Pumpkin Carving, Zombie Fog or Blood Sense filters included. O2’s #Lookscary competition = #Sorted.

Zombie Attack, Available on Blackberry, Free.

Do your bit to save the human race from Zombies this Halloween. This is a fun game to play all year round if you can’t get the job done before October 31st.

Pumpkin Creation by Libii, Available on iOS, Free.

A really fun way to kill 10/15 minutes. It is aimed at children, but we enjoyed creating our own customised pumpkins which you can share on Facebook and Twitter. Create as many as you like without the worry of getting the mouth or eyes wrong this year!

Great Halloween Recipes by Lazy Yards, Available on iOS, £0.69

Food at Halloween doesn’t have to be ghastly too! This app contains starter, main course and dessert recipes. It also features drinks recipes (please drink responsibly!). The only catch is that it uses US-style measurements for the ingredients, but it is definitely worth a try.

Scary Sounds by Smart Wire LLC, Available on iOS, Free.

Around fifteen scary sounds to play at will. It’s a great addition to a Halloween Party – just plug your phone into a sound dock or set of speakers, sort out the cobwebs, dry ice and costumes and you are all set for a proper Halloween!

O2 is giving away three Blackberry Curve 9320s in Pure Red this Halloween. Submit your Halloween pic to #Lookscary on Twitter or Instagram by midnight on the 2nd of November to enter. Our standard competition conditions apply, for more information please visit http://j.mp/O2Terms
