If your last real lunch break was when fax machines were all the rage, it’s time for a change in your schedule. Our new Priority £1 lunches are here to help the UK take time out for their lunch and enjoy a well-earned break.

Dr Christy Fergusson PhD, the UK’s leading Food Psychologist, gives three reasons why proper lunch breaks are important:

1.   You need to refuel your body and brain. Ever felt that late morning slump and you spot that Snickers bar staring back at you from the vending machine? Chances are it’s been a while since you had something substantial to eat and your energy levels are dropping. No matter how busy you are, it’s important to take time to re-fuel properly to make sure you’re at your best for the rest of the day.

2.   It increases your productivity. Half of UK office workers eat lunch at their desks. While this may sound like the perfect recipe for getting more work done, it’s really not. A lunch break is a time to re-energise, but it should also give us time to properly switch off and get some breathing space from work.

3.   It does wonders for your well-being. Step away from your desk, allow your mind to wander and take a stroll outside. Go find a park to sit in. Research has shown that spending time in green spaces on a regular basis can have a long-lasting effect on your health, well-being and feelings of safety. Wonderful.
