Two down, three to go for England Rugby

How was your weekend away from the RBS 6 Nations? The character and determination of this squad has been tested to the max and they’ve shown true grit to come back twice against the French and dramatically against Wales with a last gasp try.

That prompted a tongue in cheek comment from Head Coach Eddie Jones “It was a great Test. I never thought we were going to lose but I think we have used up all our get out of jail free cards.”

Maybe Eddie is right, but traditionally in sport we tend to see that the elite teams have an unlimited amount of jail free cards. How many times has the great New Zealand teams over the years come back and snatched a late win?

What we like about Eddie Jones is that he never settles on what the team have achieved. The goal is to be the number one test team in world rugby and then world champions, if the team reach that target you can guarantee Eddie will demand new ones.

Up next for England is Italy at Twickenham this Sunday, a team they have never lost to, with a 100% win record in the twenty-two games they have clashed together. The Italians each year are improving but we feel Eddie will look to tinker a few things and try out some untested players into the team. England will respect Italy, and let’s not forget upsets in rugby do happen. Eddie’s Japan team became the masters of it in 2015.
