Serving up fresh, tasty customer experiences at McDonald's

Every day, McDonald’s serves around 3.7m customers in the UK. But changing lifestyles and expectations mean today’s customers want more than good service and quality food when they come to our restaurants – they expect a great experience as well.
IT has become absolutely fundamental in delivering these great experiences. It’s what we call Experience of the Future, and right now, we’re over halfway through transforming our estate and updating our restaurants.
Our transformation programme is big, bold and technology-driven. It’s about giving our customers more choice as to how they order and pay while adapting the way food is prepared and served. Our new restaurant designs and layouts include self-order kiosks, wireless charging docks and improved kitchen facilities. These amenities, alongside our free Wi-Fi, are the services our customers have come to love. They offer a different and more personal experience for our customers and ultimately bring us closer to the way people live their lives today.
Our restaurants are reliant on technology to deliver these enhanced experiences, especially connectivity and O2 plays a big part in delivering that experience. One of McDonald’s USPs is that we’re a restaurant for all and it’s, therefore our priority to ensure all of our locations offer a safe and welcoming environment for our customers and their families. In all transformed restaurants, we offer interactive tablets for our customers to use as well as free Wi-Fi. Customers need to feel confident in our ability to protect their information so ensuring their data is safeguarded is a priority for us. O2 Wifi gives us that confidence and allows our customers to access the appropriate content they want to on their devices – it’s an essential part of our customer offering. At the same time, with 3.5-4 million users logging onto our free Wi-Fi every month, customers expect an easy and simple process to enable them to get online. With O2 Wifi, our process is straightforward and consistent and allows users to be online extremely quickly.
