Changing Pay & Go loyalty rewards forever

Customer loyalty programs can be confusing and poor value for money. Michael Williamson, Head of Pay & Go, talks about how O2’s changing this forever.

Michael Williamson We’ve all seen reward schemes run by companies that say they value their customers but in reality offer very little. Some give you one point for every pound you spend and then make sure you need hundreds of points for very small items. Others limit the amount of time you can claim and ask you to jump through hoops to get what you deserve.

In O2 Pay & Go over the last few years we’ve run a program called O2 Rewards which offers customers 10% of the money you spend with us to as extra credit on your phone. O2 Rewards is our way of thanking you for being part of O2 and now we’ve launched a new version that offers you even more than before.

You’ll still get 10% of the amount you spend on your top-ups back and you can still claim this as extra call time, however you can also now use it to get a discount off a brand new phone or put it towards tickets to any event at The O2, one of the world’s most popular venues. You can also choose to use your reward to get High Street Vouchers to spend at places like Argos, John Lewis, Debenhams, Marks & Spencers, Amazon, Boots, HMV and the iTunes store. We’ll contact you every three months to update you on how much of a reward you’ve earned and what you can do with it.

If you’re already part of our O2 Rewards program then you’ll automatically be able to take advantage of the new offers and you’ll continue to get 10% of your credit back. If you’re an O2 Pay & Go customer who joined us before 1 July then you can opt into O2 Rewards by texting REWARD to 50202 and you’ll get 10% of your credit back too. If you join O2 after 1 July you too can be part of O2 Rewards but you’ll get 5% of your credit back for the first six months of being with O2 – after that we’ll increase it to 10%.

I’d love to hear about your experiences with reward programs so please leave us a comment below. You can also find out more about O2 Rewards at www.o2.co.uk/rewards.
