Will Kemble-Clarkson from O2’s advertising team gives an update on O2 Indian Soap Star and the audition tour which has been travelling the UK throughout November.

Will Kemble-Clarkson Our search for the UK’s next Indian soap star drew to a close last Sunday as Slough and Croydon were the last two lucky destinations to host O2’s Indian Soap Star roadshow.

The O2 Indian Soap Star roadshow has been touring the UK since the 11th November and has seen more than 1,800 people step in front of the camera for their chance to win a speaking part in India’s biggest soap, Pavitra Rishta. The roadshow, which visited Glasgow, Manchester, Brent, Leicester, Birmingham, Croydon and Slough throughout November, brought together people from all ages and backgrounds to show off their acting skills for their chance at fame. We’ve been thrilled with the response to the competition and the diversity of people who’ve auditioned.

The UK’s Bollywood hotspot was definitely Leicester with nearly 350 people auditioning, the highest number of any of the seven roadshows. All of the auditions have been loaded onto our official Indian Soap Star YouTube channel. We've also got a compilation of some of the best and worst here.

The competitors will now be whittled down to just three aspiring actors who will be in the running to bag the all expenses paid trip to Mumbai and the title of O2 Indian Soap Star. The final three contestants will be judged by Ronan Dunne, CEO at O2, Andleeb Hanif, the editor of Asian Express, the UK’s biggest national Asian title, and a ZEE TV programing executive.

The lucky winner will win a 5* all expenses paid trip to Mumbai for them and two friends as well as the walk on, speaking part in Zee TV's Pavitra Rishta, watched by over 500 million people worldwide.

We launched Indian Soap Star to raise awareness of our new International Favourites bolt on which is a fantastic new deal for anyone who regularly calls abroad. Check out www.o2.co.uk/internationalfavourites for more info.
