Tester Diaries: Update on the Xperia PLAY

Stuart Hibberd, head of O2’s testing team, gives an update on the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY texting process.

At the end of March I let you know that, after a period of intense testing, we’d found bugs with the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY that meant we couldn’t launch the phone on April 1st as we originally planned. At the time I said that we would continue to work closely with Sony Ericsson for the next few weeks to fix the bugs.

Since then we’ve received new software from Sony Ericsson which we’ve been testing here and, I’m happy to report, it has fixed a lot of the bugs that would have stopped our customers having a great experience when they use the PLAY. This is an important milestone for us and means the PLAY is nearly ready to go on sale.
