Our Eco Rating scheme, the only sustainable rating system for mobile phones, has crowned two new sustainable champs – the Nokia C6-01 and Nokia E7-00.

The two phones, both scoring 4.1 out of 5, are the most sustainable phones in O2's current range, closely followed by the Samsung Galaxy Ace & Mini, Sony Ericsson X8 and Nokia C7-00, all scoring 4 out of 5 and finishing in joint second place.

Eco Rating ranks virtually all the phones we sell based on its environmental impact, how it helps people lead sustainable lives and how ethically the manufacturer conducts itself. It's the only scheme of its kind and now included 90% of the devices in our range.

Our Head of Devices, Simon Lee-Smith, is a fan of the scheme. "“Although the environmental impact of a mobile phone may seem trivial when compared to say a car or fridge, when you consider the vast volumes of mobiles in circulation across the globe, their impact adds up."

You can see how our other phones did by visiting their pages on our online store. We're going to be discussing environmental issues and mobile phones with our Sustainability Team on Twitter this Friday, 27 May, from 2pm onwards – if you've got a question you'd like answered then you're welcome to get involved! To submit a question on Twitter, send a tweet to our Twitter channel @O2 and use hashtag #asko2. If you're not on Twitter then don't worry – just leave us a comment below and we'll do our best to answer it.
