Suggs We love music at O2 and that's one of the reasons we work in partnership with The O2 and O2 Academies and connect our customers to the music they love most with O2Priority. We’re also in our 10th year of sponsoring a great event, the Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Awards Lunch and are big fans of the work they do. And this year, they’re giving everyone the chance to vote for their favourite live act and win some amazing prizes.

Who are Nordoff Robbins?

Nordoff Robbins have been around for over 30 years. They deliver over 45,000 music therapy sessions annually and have given many people the ability and confidence to express themselves and communicate where they’ve struggled to previously. One person they helped was 16 month old Joshua. He was born with a rare genetic syndrome where he experienced heart problems and reduced muscle tone and delayed mental and physical development. He was the size of a three month old baby and unable to roll or crawl. He formed very few sounds, and showed limited emotions. Joshua

From the very first moment when Joshua’s music therapist played a ‘hello song’ on the flute, Joshua was captivated. Within a few weeks he was tapping the drum, shaking the tambourine and playing the wind chimes. The biggest change was his developing vocal sounds. Before music therapy he made little noise. But he started to have ‘music conversations’ with the therapist and before long he could say ‘mama’, ‘dada’, ‘baba’, ‘gaga’, as well as a whole range of new noises.

Joshua’s mum said: “music therapy has given Joshua his voice. Nordoff Robbins has made such a difference to our lives.
