Since we turned our online press centre into a blog in August 2012, the O2 blog “The Blue” has been an enormous success. In this short time, we’ve had well over 700,000 unique visitors and it is now an essential channel in how we communicate with our customers.

It’s been the learning’s from this success that have helped us develop the latest version of The Blue, which you are now using – and it’s even better on mobile! We spent a lot of time trying to understand what users want and what features would help to make The Blue a best-in-class mobile experience.

So, take a look below at some of the new features we’ve added, which we hope will make you an even more regular visitor.

The Blue for iPad

Intelligent Recognition System

Far from a fancy name, the mobile version of the blog now offers a personalised browsing experience depending on which operating system you are accessing it from. It basically means that you’ll see the content that’s most relevant to you without having to press a button. iOS, Android and Windows Phone are currently all supported.

The Blue Adapts to Different Operating Systems

You’ll instantly notice the much simpler way in which blog stories are presented on mobile, giving you near-immediate access to the most important content. The new menu system will take you to other really popular areas such as the most shared content or the media library.

Desktop Improvements

Following research into your preferences, we’ve also updated the content layout for desktop users. With so much content to share, we want to make it easier than ever to find the information that’s most timely and relevant. The re-ordering of the layout should do just that.

The search tool has been significantly improved so that you can find not only the story you’re looking for but also the media content that supports it; and all media downloads will now be full-resolution enabled across any device on the operating systems mentioned above.

We really hope that these refinements will be especially useful to journalists and bloggers.

As a digital services company, it’s essential that we deliver the best digital experiences we possibly can. The changes we’ve made to The Blue hopefully go some way to doing that – but let us know below if there’s anything you’d like to see.
