CP Europe - Day 4: Get inspired
Thursday at The O2 was all about the ladies.
Day 4 was Women in Technology day at Campus Party Europe 2013, and campuseros were treated to a host of inspirational women who are changing the face of an industry that’s long been dominated by men.
To start the day off, Becky Stewart took to the Michelangelo stage to discuss how art and technology are as similar as they are completely different. Meanwhile, over on Archimedes, Jennifer Perry reminded us that in today’s digital age, anyone can be a spy.
The lunchtime keynote speech was delivered by Mitchell Baker, chair of the Mozilla Foundation and former Mozilla Corp CEO. Mitchell spoke of the importance of keeping the web open and interoperable.
Giving the ladies a well-earned rest, Jon ‘Maddog’ Hall delivered the evening keynote to a particularly receptive audience, talking about the benefits of free software and free culture to the wider society.
The penultimate day of Campus Party 2013 was all about the ‘girl geeks’ and one thing’s for sure: we’ve seen an impressive number of tech-mad ladies at this year’s event. Hopefully, that’ll be a trend which continues to grow…
