Look who’s back! It’s everyone’s favourite ginger, Ed Sheeran, and you can listen to his new album ‘x’ for free on the O2 Tracks Centre Stage all week.

We had a listen and picked out our highlights.

The singer songwriter eases fans in with One, a melancholy song about lost love. It’s classic Sheeran, covering a subject he and his acoustic guitar know all too well, but with a more mature sound this time round.

Ed tries his hand at a more urban sound in lead single, Sing. It works incredibly well. Co-written and produced by his new pal Pharrell, it’s no surprise that the track, which has drawn comparisons to Justin Timberlake, has topped the UK singles chart. Our pick of the album.

The 23 year old continues to make heads spin with Don’t. Written about his beef with a certain unnamed female popstar’s betrayal, it’s the definitive diss-track and Ed doesn’t hold back: ‘I reckon she was only looking for a lover to burn’. Rick Rubin’s magic touch on production helps make this a sure fire RnB smash.

Sheeran again showcases his talent with the heartfelt closing tune, Afire Love. Through a piano backed ballad, the Yorkshire born lad opens up about his late grandfather’s battle with Alzheimer’s disease. A chilling and beautiful close to the album.

It’s been three years since Sheeran brought out his multi-platinum selling debut album +. Since then he’s built a fan base of ‘Sheerios’, toured the world, made a bunch of new celeb buddies and learned a lot about life. His second album is a reflection of this and shows Ed confidently pushing the boundaries, exploring new musical styles, but staying true to what we loved him for in the first place.
