Our pick of October's O2 Academy gigs
We’re renaming next month Rock-tober to celebrate all the great guitar bands performing our O2 Academy venues. The only thing missing? You. Here’s our pick of the best gigs to go to.
New kids on the block Twin Atlantic are all over the charts with their better-than-bonny single Brothers and Sisters, guaranteed to get you (trying) to sing along in a Glaswegian accent. Find these Scottish scamps slightly south of the border in Newcastle (27) and Sheffield (29) next month.
A 21 year old with a voice beyond his years and a Bob Dylan inspired sound, good ol’ Georgie released his debut studio album Wanted On Voyage in June this year, reaching no.3 in the UK charts. Known for hit singles Budapest and Barcelona, you can catch him a bit closer to home in Bristol (21) and Shepherd’s Bush (24). Watch the video for our standout track, Leaving It Up To You.
We can’t help falling in love with UB40, which is convenient as they’re on tour in October. They’re one of the world’s best-selling music artists, selling over 70 million records, and you can catch them at Oxford (27), Leicester (30), Liverpool (31), Sheffield (1 Nov), Bristol (8 Nov) and Bournemouth (9 Nov).
Watch the saviour of English folk, Seth Lakeman bring his ‘multi-instrumentalism’ and smooth vocal sound to Shepherd’s Bush (15) next month. Check out The Wanderer from his new album, Word Of Mouth, to get in the mood. It’s rather lovely.
Black Veil Brides
Standout style and standout songs are what this post hardcore Cali crew are all about. Influenced by the likes of Kiss, expect lots of black hair, makeup and skinny jeans. Veils and brides optional. They’re playing in Brixton (4), Birmingham (7), Newcastle (13) and Leeds (17).
Kids in Glass Houses
What’s occurring? It’s the Kids in Glass Houses farewell tour, that’s what. This could be your last time watching these Welsh rockers take to the stage so check them out in Liverpool (10), Newcastle (18) or Oxford (26) before it’s too late. Matters At All is our top tune.
Which bands are you heading to in October? Remember, thanks to Priority, O2 customers can get tickets to thousands of gigs across the UK up to 48 hours before general release. Text PRIORITY to 2020 to get started.
