#BuildingBritain with O2 4G

It’s #BuildingBritain week all week and stories have been coming in across the UK on how the infrastructure industry is literally ‘building Britain’.

We’ve added our own example on how we’re bringing O2 4G to 98% of the UK by 2017 and a few little stats for you to get your head around.

By the time you’ve read this, we’ll have taken about 400,000 calls and 200,000 text messages across the network. Add those up for the whole day and you’ve got 120 million calls and 150 million texts. These days you’re using more and more data through your smart tech, especially now we’ve got O2 4G in over half of the UK population – 240 terabytes a day. That’s quite a lot (understatement), probably enough to power the Starship Enterprise with enough left over for cat videos on YouTube.

You must be doing more than cat videos because as you get more and more smart tech we’ve seen customers using 80% more data than this time twelve months ago. And our 4G network has already carried more data than our entire network did between 2000 and 2008 – back when Facebook was a mere twinkle in Zuck’s eye.

So there you have it, just a little insight into how we’re #BuildingBritain. If that’s whet your appetite, you can check out the O2 4G story HERE. Or watch the video in our Building Britain tweet HERE.
