Will 2015 be the year digital comes of age?
By Gavin Franks, General Manager for Enterprise Business at Telefónica UK.
Wearables. Mobile apps. The cloud.
It might seem to some that these three tech trends have been around for a while. Others might be seeing these them for the first time. Either way it’s looking like 2015 will be the year that organisations fully embrace the digital technology that enables their people to work smarter – independent of location and whatever their role.
Digital transformation will be key to enabling this smarter working – and it’s a trend that can’t be ignored. As an example in February Gartner estimate that 21% of companies will adopt mobile app development1.
And with more and more organisations embracing digital and mobility, the focus on security is set to soar to ensure the protection of business-critical data on mobile devices and sharing platforms. In fact, by 2020 an estimated 60% of enterprise information security budgets will be allocated toward rapid detection and response approaches to cyber threats2.
To support this new way of working, cloud services are also set to see significant growth. Since 2010 UK cloud adoption has grown by 61.5%3.
We’ve put together this useful infographic that shows why 2015 will be a turning point for digital in business.
