Gig Guide: March- ft. The 1975, Years & Years and more!
Manchester born alternative pop group The 1975, are playing at O2 Academy Brixton (4, 5, 7, 8, 9) O2 Apollo Manchester (12, 13, 14, 15) and O2 Academy Glasgow (17, 18, 19, 20), in celebration of their new album ‘I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It’, which was released worldwide on 26 February 2016.
With their sound described as “the dark and youthful themes of sex, love, and fear with ethereal alt-rock music’ by Scott Kerr of AllMusic, the band have enjoyed awards such as the Hardest Working Band at Songkick Awards, Best International Band at the Alernative Press Awards and finally, they have been nominated for Best British Band at the NME Awards.
With their self-titled album ‘The 1975’, debuting at no. 1 on the UK Albums Chart, and having supported Muse and The Rolling Stones in the past, the band are certainly taking the music industry by storm.
Fun Fact: The 1975’s lead singer Matthew Healy is the son of Loose Women Denise Welch and Tim Healy, actor in ITV’s Benidorm.

British electronica Years & Years will be taking over the O2 Academy Glasgow (20,30) straight off The BRITs last week.
With their first album ‘Communion’ reaching number 1, and the single ‘King’ also reaching number 1 in the UK, the band have been releasing hit after hit, with ‘Eyes Shut’ reaching over 14 million views on YouTube. Catch the video below!
With over 8 million subscribers on YouTube and over 2 billion views on their videos, the Boyce Avenue brothers are one of the most frequented channels worldwide on YouTube.
