England are ready to whitewash the Australians
When Jamie George picked up the ball and decided to take inspiration from the England football lads, delicately kicked the ball for a pick up by Owen Farrell to go over the line and cement an historic 23-7 win over Australia, we knew we had witnessed something very, very, special. England had created history in just two games of rugby.
Did the nation expect such a performance, probably not? After all let’s not forget Eddie Jones has had less than 10 games with this squad. What has he done so right in such a short space of time?
First off, he’s installed a winning mentality to every single member of the squad, ignored past issues and given everyone a clean slate. Fixing the English mentality has been key to the performances. Improved lineouts and defence lines. On paper it doesn’t seem to be much at all, you can guarantee hours and hours of planning and hard work has gone into this.
In this series win, we’ve seen some stand out performances. James Haskell has been a man mountain, not letting anything get by him and when it does he hits them hard. Dylan Hartley’s captaincy has been admirable. Dan Cole, well what can we say but what a man. Maro Itoje has been a sensation. Chris Robshaw, can we say anymore than what has already been said. It’s a 50th England cap he will forever remember. We could go on and on with plaudits for individuals in this squad. They have been superb.
What was admirable was the player’s attitude from the final whistle last Saturday. Dylan Hartley led the battle cry insisting they will enjoy the moment of victory but not let the main focus of completing an Australian whitewash this weekend in Sydney. That surely should send nerves down the Australians spine.
Your #WearTheRose support has been world class down under and back home. We’ve loved every single message of support you are sending the lads to us on social media. To keep up to date with what the squad is up to make sure to follow us on Twitter and Instagram.
We go one more time. England has come to fight, come to win and come to make history in Australia. We can’t wait.
