15 of England’s top rugby players, including Andrew Sheridan and Phil Vickery, have this week joined with O2, proud sponsors of the Guinness Premiership and England rugby, to launch a search for the O2 PropStar, the nation’s most loyal, dedicated and vocal rugby fan. To reward the most loyal of rugby fans, one lucky person will be crowned O2 PropStar at the Guinness Premiership Final at Twickenham on Saturday 27 May 2006 and win a once in a lifetime trip for two to watch their Premiership heroes play in the summer tour of Australia *.   Members of the O2 ‘PropStar XV’ will be invading town centres across the country in order to drum up rugby fever and seek out the most vocal of fans. Sheridan, Vickery, Olly Barkley, Mark Cueto, Tom Voyce and 10 of their Premiership colleagues will be busking outside the O2 retail stores closest to their local club in an effort to encourage fans to enter the nationwide search to find this year’s O2 PropStar.   Launching today, recruitment of potential O2 PropStars will run throughout February and March. To be in with a chance of winning fans must demonstrate their dedication to the sport and chanting prowess to a judging panel. Short listed fans will take part in ‘karaoke style’ heats, which will be held in O2 retail stores throughout April. Twelve lucky fans, with vocals strong enough to prove their worth, will then advance to the national final in May where they will be invited to sing their take of rugby anthems in front of a panel of judges as a demonstration of their passion for rugby and ability to get the crowd fired up.
To enter all fans have to do is fill in and submit an entry form which can be found at www.o2.co.uk/propstar. Closing date for applications is 31st March 2006.   As proud sponsors of Guinness Premiership and England rugby, O2 is involved in all levels of the game and is committed to providing the best rugby experiences and rewarding fans for their loyal support.
