We’re happy to announce that all O2 customers can now access Virgin Media WiFi at over 120 London Underground stations for no extra cost.

O2 customers already signed up to O2 Wifi (via a hotspot or the O2 Wifi app) will be automatically registered to London Underground WiFi. Once they’ve signed in for the first time via the online portal, their devices will automatically connect each time they enter a WiFi enabled station.

O2 customers who aren’t already signed up to O2 Wifi can do so by downloading the O2 Wifi app on iOS or Android, or logging on at any of the 8,725 O2 Wifi hotspots across the UK.

Gary Booker, Marketing and Consumer Director at O2, said: “We’re excited to bring inclusive Underground WiFi to all O2 customers. Our customers want to stay connected wherever they are and now they are able to check their email, update their Facebook status, shop online, book their next holiday and stay connected to their friends and family right across Tube stations in Central London as part of their O2 service.”

To celebrate the launch of free WiFi on the London Underground, we’ve launched an exclusive underground themed tracklist on O2 Tracks which includes classic anthems such as  ‘Deeper Underground’ by Jamiroquai, ‘Sounds of the Underground’ by Girls Aloud and ‘Angel’ by Shaggy.

As well as getting access to free wifi at tube stations, O2 Pay Monthly customers will be able to use our latest innovation, TU Go which lets them use their existing number and tariff to make and receive calls, send and receive texts and use voicemail on up to five devices at the same time. If they have devices that are wifi-only, like tablets and laptops, or if they have wifi but no mobile coverage (like on tube platforms), they can use TU Go to connect to the O2 network. And they can call anyone – even if they don’t have TU Go.

TU Go will form part of our Be More Dog campaign which launched earlier this month, designed to promote a more “playful, enthusiastic and optimistic attitude”. It acts as a build up to the launch of our 4G network, which is due to be switched on for customers later this summer.
