London. O2 Media today announced Gary Cole as its new Commercial Director as the business drives to scale up sales in 2011. Cole, who joins O2 Media from his current role as Commercial Director of online video start up Diagonal View, will officially take up his new position on 31st January.
It has been a hugely successful 12 months for O2 Media with their consumer service O2 More surpassing 1 million customers, the launch of location based advertising and the opening of their Ganton Street offices in the heart of the media district in London’s Soho.
Cole, who has previously held senior roles with ITV, Telegraph Media Group and Incisive Media, will be responsible for all sales teams across direct, agency and international. He has an extensive background in the UK advertising sector, and is well versed with building great sales teams within the new media space.
Shaun Gregory, Managing Director of O2 Media, said: ‘I’m thrilled that Gary has joined the team and will lead our commercial expansion in the UK. He has a wealth of experience from the new media market place and is one of the most respected figures within the UK advertising sector. He knows how to build great teams, and also innovate within a highly complex and fast moving environment. This appointment reflects our ambition to continue leading the market and cement our position as a thought leader within the mobile and personalisation space.
‘We have established ourselves in the market and laid down some great foundations for future growth. We have brought all our products and services in house and ultimately created an end to end opportunity for brands and agencies in the UK. The challenge now is to scale the business and we need the best people to do that. Our strategy is to build a market leading personalised media business, and this another step on that journey.’
Commenting on his appointment Cole said: ‘I am delighted to be joining one of the fastest developing brands in the new media market. O2 Media has set itself apart from the rest in 2010 with products and services that are unique in the market. I look forward to working with Shaun and the rest of the team to develop these opportunities and explore new areas. There can be no doubt that the mobile device is an increasingly essential part of the consumer’s life and by providing the right advertising solutions, trust and a great quality of service O2 Media can be at the forefront of this exciting sector in the coming years.’
