O2 launches shared data plans for both individual customers and families

• New plans to allow new and existing O2 customers to share data allowances across devices or between the people they love
• Sharer plans start from £6 per month
• To celebrate the launch, O2’s family plan comes with a £25 Frankie and Benny’s or Chiquito’s voucher

O2 today announces two new plans designed to make sharing data between devices and people easier than ever before. O2’s Sharer Plan and Family Sharer Plan enable customers to use one data bundle, with up to 8GB allowance, either across multiple devices and smart tech or across multiple devices owned by different members of the family. Both plans are available in O2 stores and over the phone from today.

O2’s new plans have been launched as the latest GSMA data reveals that, with over 73.7 million mobile devices active in the UK, every person in the UK now owns an average of 1.5 pieces of connected tech and the average household owns three. O2’s two all-new data plans are designed to make sharing data easier than ever before.

“People across the UK are increasingly tech-savvy and now own an average of 1.5 devices each. In response, we’ve created a simple and easy way for customers to manage their data usage across all their devices,” said Nina Bibby, Marketing and Consumer Director for O2 in the UK. “Whether you’re sharing your data allowance across devices or family members, our new Sharer plans can help you get more from your smart tech and also save money.”

O2’s sharing plans have been designed both for individuals and family groups:

1. Sharer Plan: one data bundle, multiple devices
   Individual customers looking to share one data bundle across multiple devices – perhaps their phone and tablet – can opt for O2’s Sharer Plan to spread their data across both. Customers on any O2 Refresh tariff with at least 1GB of data can share their data on additional devices from as little as £6 per month as an add-on to an existing agreement with the network.
2. Family Sharer Plan: one data bundle, multiple people
   Meanwhile, those looking to spread their data across multiple family members can save money and get more from their phones using O2’s new Family Sharer Plan. Customers take out one plan with a data allowance of between 1GB and 8GB and can then add up to nine additional family members.

For £15 per month for each family member, the plan offers unlimited minutes and texts in addition to the shared data allowance. For those families who choose to share data on a tablet, the same plan is available for as little as £6 per month.

Families taking out a Family Sharer Plan with at least 2 voice connections will also receive a free £25 voucher for Frankie and Benny’s or Chiquito – perfect for a family get together.

Customers using either Sharer Plan can track their data usage using O2’s My O2 app and will also receive text notifications when they’ve used 80% and 100% of their data allowance. Customers who use 100% of their data allowance can then purchase additional data Bolt Ons from as little as £3.
