Fresh from being discovered through O2’s grassroots music talent search, O2 Undiscovered, 27 year-old ’Emma Rohan’ will perform her first public gig in front of thousands of fans at this summer’s biggest music spectacle – the O2 Wireless Festival.   Emma Rohan will take to the MySpace stage in Hyde Park on Saturday 24 June, joining fresh talent such as King Creosote, David Kitt and Catherine Feeney.   Furthering its support of grassroots music in its second year as headline sponsor of the O2 Wireless Festival, O2 will also be giving up and coming talent such as Crash Convention, Broken Dolls, Lior and Rushmore the chance to perform live to O2 customers and their friends at the O2 Wireless Festival in O2’s exclusive blueroom – where O2 customers will receive the full VIP experience.   To gain access to the fourth stage in O2’s blueroom and hear the latest sounds from the UK’s newest talent. O2 customers need to simply text BLUEROOM to 60600* to gain entry for them and up to four friends.    O2 blueroom As well as being able to enjoy a private stage in the O2 blueroom, music lovers can also experience their own taste of fame by getting their face on the front of an exclusive O2 Wireless Festival CD or becoming immortalised in a music video, which can be sent via Bluetooth technology to their mobile phone or email account.   And if it’s all too much for them, O2 music fans can simply put their feet up in the blueroom and enjoy a drink, whilst receiving an array of healing treatments from Reiki and Kinesiology to relaxing foot and head massages.   Mobile music community Whilst enhancing the live experience at the festival, through mobile O2 will also give music fans the opportunity to become truly immersed in a wider community surrounding the acts.      O2 customers will be able to get closer to their music heroes and keep up to date on all the backstage gossip by opting in to receive SMS and MMS alerts from the O2 Wireless Festival mole, by simply texting “london” or “leeds” to 60600*.   Bluetooth posters set up across the festival site will offer free music downloads to O2 customers, whilst a bespoke O2 Wireless Festival site, available on O2 Active and O2’s i-mode service**, will provide music fans with everything they need to know about the festival including the latest line ups, on-site editorial updates, exclusive back-stage images and festival downloads.   And to ensure the music is ringing in O2 customers’ ears long after the lights have gone down on Hyde Park and Harewood House, O2 customers will be able to re-live their favourite musical moments with access to live festival footage on their handset by simply texting ‘wireless’ to 2020*.   O2 Undiscovered O2 Undiscovered launched nationwide in January 2006 to unearth new music talent in the UK.  Entrants were invited to upload their demos at the O2 Undiscovered website or drop them into bins at O2 stores all over the UK for the chance to win a prestigious bursary and support from some of the music industry’s leading figures.   Polydor’s Head of A&R Simon Gavin and former guitarist with Elastica Paul Jones finally whittled the 6,000 entrants down to 10 finalists, with Emma Rohan, from St Albans, emerging the eventual winner.    Emma Rohan will receive workshop sessions with members of the panel, studio and producer time to record a track, digital release of the track as well as promotion through O2 Active to O2’s 16 million customer base.   Paul Samuels, Head of Sponsorship at O2 UK, says: “O2 is proud to be providing the opportunity for up and coming artists, including O2 Undiscovered’s very own Emma Rohan, the chance to perform in front of thousands of music lovers at the O2 Wireless Festival.  O2 has demonstrated a commitment to music at all levels in the past three years, from major sponsorships such as The O2 to bespoke and innovative services such as a tie-up with up and coming band The Upper Room, who will also be performing at this year’s festival.
