State-of-the-art Indigo venue opens on 2nd July 2007 as part of the multi-million pound redevelopment of the O2. Located in the heart of London with fantastic travel links via Thames Clippers on The O2 Express service or 7 stops on the Jubilee Line from Westminster. This new 2,350 capacity venue with superior facilities is set to be the jewel in the crown of London’s already vibrant live music scene.

As a purpose-built music venue, Indigo has been designed with perfect acoustics and has installed a top of the range JBL sound system, plus comprehensive, intelligent moving Vari-Lite lighting with follow spots. Indigo’s grand opening night show sees the piano maestro Jools Holland, plus special guests; Lulu, Ruby Turner and Louise Marshall, with his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, bringing his spectacular show to the stage on July 2nd. Holland is recognised as one of the UK’s greatest musicians of all time and a huge supporter of live music in London – where better for him to perform his biggest hits than on his home ground.

The star-studded line-up of acts continues with the 8-times Grammy Award winning Natalie Cole who brings her R&B and smooth jazz vocals to Indigo on 5th July. Our monthly residency, The Bedford Bandstand, will bring the best in new live acts to Indigo, hosted and co-ordinated by the legendary Bedford’s own Tony Moore and kicking off with a headline performance by Lucie Silvas on Saturday 7th July. Then Indigo welcomes superb cult champions of American alternative rock CAKE to light up the stage on July 12th.

Indigo welcomes the co-headliners of legendary southern gospel and soul pioneers; The Blind Boys of Alabama and Mavis Staples together on stage on 17th July. Africa’s most celebrated artist, Senegalese singer Youssou N’Dour brings his unique and acclaimed mix of styles to London’s newest music venue on July 21st, as does the Oscar, Grammy and Golden Globe nominated singer songwriter Aimee Mann on July 27th.

Greenwich boy, Jools Holland is one of the UK’s most prolific and respected jazz and rhythm and blues musicians. His band, Jools Holland & his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, have enjoyed great success around the world recording and performing together since the early ‘90s. With eight albums and a double platinum album for ‘Small World, Big Band’ Jools Holland has worked with artists including Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Mica Paris, David Gilmor and Tom Jones. He was awarded an OBE in 2003.

Natalie Cole

Natalie Cole, daughter of the late great Nat ‘King’ Cole, is one of the world’s most accomplished vocalists enjoying unprecedented global success and 30 million record sales worldwide. The multi chart-topping singer has, to date, won 8 Grammy Awards including Best Female R&B vocal Performance, Best New Artist, Album of the Year and best Jazz Vocal.

Bedford Bandstand

Kicking off a monthly residency at Indigo, The Bedford’s Tony Moore will be presenting a night of live music with Lucie Silvas headlining, alongside Jamie Woon, Foy Vance and and Karima Francis, at the first Bedford Bandstand. The Bedford has long had a reputation for showcasing the best of new live music and will be bringing a unique show starring the very best new and emerging talent alongside some of the most recognised names in the music business to Indigo.

CAKE
Date: 12th July

Cult North California band Cake have taken their place as one of the most enduring and iconoclastic artists in American alternative rock with a strong back catalogue of tracks. Their music has been described by Rolling Stone as ‘modern pop that is both mechanized and organic’ and is a mix of chunky acoustic guitar and striking original narrative.

The Blind Boys of Alabama and Mavis Staples
Date: 17th July

The Blind Boys of Alabama have won an impressive four consecutive Grammy’s and have worked with artists including Prince, Peter Gabriel and producer Booker T. Jones. Legendary soul and gospel singer Mavis Staples’ forthcoming album ‘We’ll Never Turn Back’ is a heart-felt, raw and contemporary version of some of the freedom songs that provided the soundtrack to the civil rights movement of the 1950’s/1960’s.

Youssou N’Dour
Date: 21st July

Senegalese singer and percussionist Youssou N’Dour is one of the most celebrated African musicians in history. The New York Times described his voice as an ‘arresting tenor, a supple weapon deployed with prophetic authority’. Youssou N’Dour recently performed at three Live8 concerts in London, Paris and Cornwell alongside Dido in July 2005.

Aimee Mann
Date: 26th July
From her work with MTV favourite Til Tuesday through her acclaimed solo discs ‘Whatever’ and ‘I’m With Stupid’, celebrated solo artist Aimee Mann has always been at the forefront of contemporary songwriters. The close of the millennium brought her greatest success, with the releases of Bachelor No. 2 and the soundtrack to the film Magnolia, which garnered nominations for an Oscar, a Golden Globe and three Grammy’s. The album ‘Lost In Space’ followed along with the album ‘The Forgotten Arm’ in 2005 and her first Christmas CD, One More Drifter In The Snow in 2006.
