The O2 Announces Elton's New Year's Eve Party
LONDON, Friday 14th November: This New Year’s Eve The O2 invites you to the ultimate party with the legend that is Elton John. This Monday 17th November tickets for Elton John’s New Year’s Eve Party go exclusively on sale to O2 customers before going on sale to the general public on Monday 24th November at 9am.
Elton John has been wowing audiences with his Red Piano show in Las Vegas since 2004 and Elton John’s New Year’s Eve Party will see him perform his greatest hits at the biggest party in town.
The show, the biggest of Elton’s extensive career, has been conceptualised and designed by acclaimed photographer and good friend of Elton, David LaChapelle. It’s a visual masterpiece that expresses the very best times, and very worst times in Elton’s life, making it a personal journey for both him and his legions of fans.
Elton commented on New Year at The O2: “I can’t wait to get to spend New Year’s Eve with 17,000 of my biggest fans. I can’t think of a better way to see in 2009.”
David Campbell, Chief Executive of AEG Europe, owners and operators of The O2 added: “Elton really is a superstar. We aim to make New Year’s Eve at The O2 a once in a lifetime event, and I have no doubt this show will be exactly that.”
Alistair Johnston, O2 UK Marketing Director, commented: “2008 has been another fantastic year for O2 and music and what better way to end it than by giving our customers exclusive access to the ultimate New Year’s Eve celebration.”
Elton John’s New Year’s Eve Party follows on from the success of The O2’s inaugural New Year celebrations last year with Take That.
Elton John has just released his 3 disc deluxe ‘Red Piano’ DVD – a 14 song performance of the best of the show including favourites such as Candle in the Wind, Your Song, Rocket Man and Tiny Dancer. His career has spanned four decades and he is one of the top selling solo artists of all time. With more than 250 million albums sold, 100 million singles, an Oscar and five Grammies, he has one of the most successful and sustained careers in music history.
New Year’s Eve transport to and from The O2 couldn’t be easier with the London Underground running 24 hours and 2,000 car parking spaces available at the venue.
Tickets are available from www.theo2.co.uk or by calling 0844 856 0202 on Monday 24th November.
