TV presenter Stacey Solomon partners with O2 and NSPCC to highlight online knowledge game between parents and kids

This March, O2 and the NSPCC’s quiz, Parents vs Kids, which encourages healthy competition amongst families, will be available on mobile, tablet and desktop. The progression of the game follows its success last year on Amazon Alexa.
The game consists of ten questions and is designed to trigger family conversations about the digital world and help inform about topics such as internet safety, online slang, social networks and general online knowledge.
Nearly three-quarters of children don’t know Instagram’s default privacy setting, whilst over half (60%) of parents aren’t aware that WhatsApp can monitor your location.* These are some of the findings from the adults and children that have played the cross generational quiz, Parents vs Kids, since it launched in October.
One of the first families to experience the new version of Parents vs Kids on tablet and all the fun and benefits it brings are the Solomon’s, with TV presenter Stacey and her son Zachary recently going head-to-head to tackle the quiz.
Speaking about the game Stacey said:
“Zachary and I had so much fun playing the Parents vs Kids game. As you can imagine, our competitive streak definitely came out! Within just a few minutes of playing the game we both found ourselves learning things we didn’t know before…it’s a great educational game, that’s fun and interactive!”
The expansion of the online quiz comes weeks after O2 and the NSPCC confirmed it was to extend its award-winning partnership. The telecoms provider and the children’s protection charity are working together across the UK to help parents communicate more confidently about the online world with their kids through a range of tools and services. These include Net Aware, a parents’ guide to 50 of the most popular social media sites, apps and games that young people use, a dedicated advice line, and face to face tech support from digital experts, O2 guru’s, in O2 stores.

O2 is working with the NSPCC to educate parents and help them feel more confident about talking to their child about their online activity so they can enjoy the online world safely. They have developed a range of free online resources available on the O2 NSPCC Hub, including a Net Aware app which explains the social networks, apps or games their children use most frequently. Parents can also access personalised advice and support about family online safety via the free O2 NSPCC advice line, which is open five days a week (0808 800 5002), alongside face to face advice from O2 Gurus in over 450 stores nationwide. The resources are available to everyone, both O2 customers and non-O2 customers.
