SunGard Vivista, part of SunGard’s Public Sector group, has selected O2 to provide wireless voice and data on one device, BlackBerry 7120 from O2.  The new solution was selected by Vivista following a trial period, because of its proven ROI (Return on Investment), security and its straightforward integration into back office systems using the BlackBerry Mobile Data Service.    Vivista, which supplies ICT and business services to the public sector, introduced push-email as a secure solution for field service agents which are now able to schedule work remotely and more efficiently, enabling easy deployment to a wide range of off-site locations.   Vivista are also using the Mobex solution on O2 to connect ten satellite offices throughout the UK.  This enables Vivista’s mobile devices to become extensions to the main office telephone system allowing for short code dialling and reduced call costs.  This virtual link connects satellite offices, which did not have their own network switches, by linking them into the O2 network, over the public fixed line telephone system.   “O2 was keen to understand our needs rather than just selling us kit,” says Tim Thompson, IT Manager at Vivista.  “Previously our field staff were wasting time and effort using dial-up to access email remotely.  With Blackberry we have got a scaleable and robust data solution for our field service engineers and sales staff. The use of Mobex has also provided us with better control over our call costs across more of our offices.”   Ben Dowd, General Manager Corporate Sales at O2, added: “This extension of our relationship with SunGard Vivista highlights the benefits mobile technology delivers in terms of enhanced communications and operational efficiencies. After a successful trial, we were able to tailor Vivista’s voice and data solution to provide staff with a much simpler, easier way of staying in touch and ensured Vivista’s remote offices benefited from being on the O2 network. “   About Mobex The Mobex solution on O2 creates a direct communication path between Vivista’s fixed voice network and O2, reducing costs of calls and allowing for internal calls can then be made to any mobile extension just as they would be to a fixed extension.  Calls from sites not incorporated in the company network can be connected using O2 Virtual Link   Additionally Mobex allows for significant cost savings to be made:

  • A low monthly subscription, so that you only pay for what you use
  • Significant savings on calls from your office fixed-line phones to your mobile phones and vice versa, as well as calls between your mobile phones. This includes mobile phone calls to up to 250 sites in your company that are not connected via the direct link
  • Mobile phone calls to ten of your external Customers and Suppliers are also charged at the same discounted rate as calls within your company
  • Different call barring rules can be set up for separate sets of mobile phones within your company, therefore enabling further controls on costs
  • Call tagging allows you to manage the split between business and personal calls
  • With O2 Business Zones, you can save up to 46 percent on calls to your chosen STD codes
